Preparation Is Key When It Comes To HVAC

hvac repairA lot of people out there just don’t realize how much goes into the HVAC trade. They may just think that people know this stuff because they try hard at it, and that’s the case most of the time. However, you should still learn some easy to follow information so you can get the lowdown on all of this. Although most people are thinking of their heating systems during the winter months, air conditioning is also important. When installing a new furnace or heating system, make sure the air ducts are also set up to work with your air condition system. Using the ducts for both heating and cooling is the most economical choice.

Be sure to clean the fan blades and coils of the condenser fan. Before you get started, cut the power. Next, remove the grill, take the blades and clean them gently, then clean the actual unit.

If the fan on your condenser includes oil ports, they must be lubricated annually. They generally have a rubber or metal cap on them. Look for an oil that is lightweight and then put about 10 drops inside the port. You don’t want to put in too much. When you are no longer using your outdoor air conditioning unit, be sure to protect it with a tight cover. This will keep it free of debris, frost and snow so that you’ll have a working unit when the spring comes and you are ready to uncover it and use it again.

If you want to cool your home in the summer without using your air conditioning on full, consider installing fans in your home. An attic fan can blow hot air out while sucking in cool air into your basement, and ceiling fans help distribute the air in your rooms evenly. If you have fans in place to help make your HVAC more efficient, be sure that they’re turning in the right direction. They should be pushing air downwards over the people in the room to help cool their skin. If it’s blowing upwards, all it does is push hot air into the room.

If you have a window air conditioner without a timer, use a regular outlet timer to control when it is on or off. These are the same ones you use for holiday lights, so all you have to do is plug your air conditioner into the timer and set it to cool you during the day. In order to keep energy costs down, make sure heating and cooling systems are services at least once per year. During your service visit, the serviceman will inspect the unit’s motor, oil the unit’s moving parts and ensure the unit has proper freon levels. These easy to do things are going to allow your system to run its best. HVAC won’t be too hard for you to understand now that you have some great tips in your mind about it. The key is to put this all to good use so that it can work out well for you in the long run. Hopefully you learned what you needed to know above!
